Arts & Reiki Wellness: Integrative Programs for Health Institutions
Arts & Reiki Wellness partners with hospitals, clinics, and health organizations to deliver evidence-informed integrative wellness programming that complements conventional care. Founded by D. Elizabeth "Sunny" Cohen, PhD — a Certified Medical Reiki Master (CMRM), retired university professor, and researcher with a career spanning the National Endowment for the Arts, the Smithsonian Institution, and international universities — Arts & Reiki Wellness brings rigorous academic grounding and nearly three decades of Reiki practice to clinical and organizational settings. Programs we offer: Customized integrative programs designed in partnership with institutions, integrating Reiki, therapeutic writing, and arts-based practices to support patients coping with illness, treatment, and recovery Medical Reiki accompaniment, delivered by a Certified Medical Reiki Master trained to work alongside patients during medical appointments and procedures Reiki and Arts-for-Wellness classes and workshops for patients, caregivers, and staff — supporting wellbeing across the care community, including clinician resilience and burnout reduction Certified Reiki training (Levels 1–3) for clinical and wellness staff Our arts-integrated programming draws on the methods of the NeuroArts Blueprint, the initiative advancing the science of how arts experience affects health and wellbeing, positioning our offerings within a growing evidence base rather than alongside it. Dr. Cohen is the recipient of a 2026 Pennsylvania Council on the Arts’ (PCA) Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator (CEA) grant program administered by the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council in Allegheny County. We work with each institution to tailor scope, format, and measurable outcomes — from single-session classes to sustained programs embedded in patient services, oncology, palliative care, or employee wellness departments.
